Sentenced to jail for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, McMurphy convinces the guards he's crazy enough to need psychiatric care and is sent to a hospital. He fits in surprisingly well, his point of view actually causing some of the patients to progress, until Nurse Ratched decides that things are moving just a little too progressively.
